Jewelry Design

This jewelry making course is an introduction into basic jewelry fabrication, starting with bead stringing and progressing into wire wrapping techniques. The students learn how to use colors and different stones to express themes and ideas through the symbolism of jewelry design. One of the main focuses of the program is exploring creativity and originality as core principles in developing one's own artistic style. The materials that are used range from plastic and stone beads and found objects, crystals, etc. They will learn how to make necklaces, rings, bracelets and the final project which includes wire wrapping a stone pendant with an advanced technique. Entrepreneurial ideas are introduced to the students on how to generate income using their new skills and also career possibilities with further learning though colleges and trade schools.

Classes are available as residency programs and workshops.
